The doctoral programs in the ESPCI Paris - PSL research laboratories are intended to prepare PhDs for a carreer either in industrial innovation and R&D, or in research and/or academics.
A broad range of thesis topics is offered by the 11 laboratories in physics, chemistry and biology at ESPCI Paris. Many of the theses prepared at ESPCI are undertaken in conjunction with an industrial firm.
Each year, the School admits about 75 new PhD students, most of whom are assigned to work with the 13 doctoral schools (Ecole doctorale, or ED in French) with which it is associated:
- ED 107: Paris Region - Physics
- ED 130: Information technology, telecommunication and electronics
- ED 158: Brain, cognition and behavior
- ED 388: Paris-Centre - Physical chemistry and analytical chemistry
- ED 389: Physics, from particles to condensed matter
- ED 390: Processes and high technology engineering
- ED 391: Mechanical sciences, acoustics and electronics in Paris
- ED 394: Physiology and physiopathology
- ED 397: Physics and chemistry of materials
